ABOUT
METROSOUTH
Rick Schlosser is the Owner and Broker of
Metrosouth Realty, Inc. A graduate of
Northeastern University, Rick began working in
real estate during college with The Codman
Company in Boston, specializing in town home
sales, rentals, renovations and condominium
conversion of properties in the Back Bay and
Beacon Hill sections of Boston. Rick was later
joined by Jay Grossman at Codman and together
they expanded the residential division to the
suburban Boston area and eventually all of New
England.
Noteworthy properties developed, built or
managed by Schlosser and Grossman while at
Codman are: Peabody Terrace in Brookline; The
Hill on Beacon Hill and The Vendome in Back Bay,
both in Boston; Coburn Woods in Nashua N.H.;
Promenade East in Portland, Maine; The Village
of Nagog Woods in Acton, Massachusetts and
Franklin Park and Narragansett Village in Rhode
Island.
Recruited by Mal Sherman and Harry Norman on
behalf of Equitable Life Assurance in 1977, Rick
left Codman and moved to Atlanta to work as
sales and marketing manager for Rivermont, an
800-acre Equitable Life Assurance-owned Country
Club community in Alpharetta, North Fulton
County, Georgia. Rick became project manager in
1979 and in 1981 when Rivermont was nearing
completion, Rick was asked by Bill Rogers and
Weldon Van Pelt of Equitable to consider another
of their projects, Peachtree City.
Attracted mostly by the vision and commitment of
Peachtree City's Founding Fathers, Joel Cowan
and Floy Farr, as well as the innovative and
inflexible Land Use Plan they and others created
for the entire City, Rick moved to Peachtree
City in 1982, taking responsibility for sales
and marketing for Peachtree City Marketing Group
and Peachtree City Development Corporation
(under the umbrella of Equitable ownership.)
During the next 12 years Peachtree City attained
national recognition for record setting growth,
professional planning, excellence in
governmental relations, and award winning
marketing - all acknowledged at a national
level.
In 1994 - shortly before PCDC acquired the
remaining undeveloped land from Equitable and
well before PCDC formed Magnus Homes - Rick
joined Eagle's Landing in Henry County as VP of
Sales and Marketing - taking responsibility for
commercial, industrial and residential sales and
assisting J.T. Williams, his sons and their
company, Killearn Properties in positioning the
company or the undeveloped property for sale.
That was accomplished in 1996.
Rick started Metrosouth Realty Advisors in 1994
- keeping Eagle's Landing as a client. The first
Metrosouth project was the rezoning in 1994 of a
251 acre tract of undeveloped land on Redwine
Road in Fayetteville for Dr. Yusifji. Today the
tract is known as Lakeside on Redwine another of
John Wieland’s fine neighborhoods. (For details
on this project and other rezonings accomplished
by Metrosouth - go to
Rezoning History.)
Currently the 73 acre tract at the corner of
Walt Banks Road and State Highway 54 in
Peachtree City is the focus of Metrosouth's
activity. See more on
Lexington Park and Lexington Circle.
